Sony’s PlayStation disc plant is losing 10 percent of its volume in 2028, not 90
September 4, 2026When Sony DADC chief Dietmar Tanzer spoke with an Austrian broadcaster in July about PlayStation disc production at the Thalgau plant, a number of press outlets misunderstood the report, writing that production would fall to a tenth of current levels.
It won’t.
Sony DADC confirmed to Game this week that the figure is a 10 percent decline, not a decline to 10 percent.
“To clarify and avoid any misleading information: in that statement Dietmar anticipated an overall product volume decline by 10 percent, not a decline down to 10 percent,” a spokesperson with Sony DADC told Game.
